Plans, upload limits, and storage
Starter is a lasting free journal, not a timed demo. Moments Plus adds room and the features that cost more to sustain. The limits below state exactly how uploads, original storage, and photographs per moment are counted.
Current photo allowances
Starter includes 100 photo uploads per month, 2 GB of original photo storage, and up to 30 photographs in one moment. Moments Plus includes 1,000 uploads per month, 50 GB of original storage, and up to 100 photographs in one moment. Every plan has a 20 MB maximum for one file.
Founding Supporter and Lifetime Founder are legacy or limited founder plans whose photo allowances mirror Moments Plus. The pricing page and Usage & support dashboard are the authoritative current surfaces if plans change after this article is published.
What each number counts
The monthly allowance counts photographs finalized into a journal during the current UTC calendar month. Storage counts the total bytes of original files for photographs that have not been deleted. The per-moment limit counts every photograph currently in that moment, including the ones already there while you add more.
The editor checks the draft before accepting or saving uploads and explains which limit would be crossed. Usage & support shows current storage, this month's uploads, the maximum per moment, and totals for photographs and moments.

- Monthly uploads reset with the UTC calendar month.
- Original bytes, not only small display renditions, determine storage.
- Deleting a photo can release storage, but does not refund a monthly upload.
- The per-file limit is 20 MB on every plan.
What Moments Plus adds
In addition to the larger allowances, Moments Plus unlocks password-protected moments, pages, collections, external embeds, a custom domain, the optional Open web connection with Fediverse and Webmentions, and private analytics. Explore each feature in Everything in Moments Plus. The plan also sustains the independent operation of Moments.
Moments Plus is currently $12 per month or $99 per year, with the current checkout terms shown on the pricing page. Every new account receives 30 days automatically, with no card and no automatic charge. The billing screen states when the free month ends and lets you choose whether to continue.
If paid access ends
The journal returns to Starter rather than disappearing. Existing moments and photographs remain safe even if current usage is above a Starter allowance; the practical restriction is on adding more work until usage fits or Moments Plus access returns. Export remains available.
Paid-only public features can pause. A custom domain stops being the route while the moments.im address continues, the interactive Open web connection pauses, and private analytics becomes gated. The Usage & support area explains the account's current plan and the relevant next step.
Published pages and collections are hidden from the public journal and its navigation until access returns, while their drafts remain available to edit, unpublish, or delete. Existing embeds become unavailable. These retained features return when Moments Plus access is restored; nothing needs to be rebuilt.
Already-protected moments keep their password boundary and remain editable if Moments Plus access ends. Starter cannot newly protect another moment, but a billing change never makes private work public.
