A password at the door

Moments can now be shared behind a password. Give someone the link and the password, and the photos stay closed to everyone else, with no account or sign-up needed.

The Moments visibility controls with Password selected, including a password field and optional hint
Choose Password, set the words you will share, and add a hint only when it helps.

Some moments are meant for a small circle: a family gathering, photographs of the children, or a trip you want to share without placing it in public. An unlisted link keeps a moment off your journal, but anyone who receives that link can still open it. Password protection adds one more quiet boundary.

Choose Password while creating or editing a moment, set a password, and add an optional hint if it will help the people you are sharing with. Visitors see a simple door in the style of your journal. Once they enter the password, the moment opens normally, and that access is remembered on their device for 30 days.

A protected moment stays off your journal, search results, feeds, whole-moment collections, embeds, the community, and the open web. Its photos, title, and field note remain behind the password; the link alone does not reveal them. A photograph can still be deliberately included in a published photo collection, which makes that selected frame public without opening the rest of its home moment.

You can change the password at any time. Doing so closes every previous unlock automatically, so only people with the new password can return. Passwords themselves are never stored in readable form.
