Moments joins the open web

Your journal can now be followed from Mastodon and other Fediverse apps. Moments you choose to share beyond your journal can reach open-web followers and, when enabled, receive quiet replies.

Moments now has a small bridge to the open web.

When Open web is enabled, your journal gets an address like @you@moments.im. People can follow that address from Mastodon and other Fediverse apps.

This does not mean every public moment is broadcast. Moments only sends the moments you choose to share beyond your journal. Those moments can appear on the Moments community page and, if your journal is open to the wider web, in the feeds of people who follow you from Mastodon or another Fediverse app.

You can also allow conversation on individual moments. Replies appear quietly below the moment, without likes, algorithms, public follower counts, or anything to chase.

Private and unlisted moments stay private to their intended audience and are not sent to open-web followers.

As always, Moments remains a calm place for photo journals first.
